Liquid-crystal display(LCD) is a flat panel display that uses the light modulating properties of liquid crystals. Liquid crystals do not emit light directly.
An active matrix LCD is generated by small backlight fluorescent Lamps/ LED. The light from these lamps/LED is diffused to create uniform light across the back polarizer, which allows light to go through in one direction only.
